First and foremost, I am so sorry for the very long hiatus. I was on a long break since last year and now, I'm about to deliver my third child which is due this Raya.

Due to the impending birth, I will not be taking any orders for a while. Will be back on my feet by March 2011, InsyaAllah...

I would like to wish all Muslims, a blessed Ramadan and a prosperous Syawal :D

Garden at No. 2

I have always loved a challenge. Give it to me and I'll dive into it head-on. So, when Farah, one of my many favorite customers called and asked me to do a number two cake for her son, I immediately said "Yes!". She left it all to me to come up with the design of the cake.

I grilled her on her son's favorite things, colors, habit and if he has any particular cartoon characters that he's fond off. Farah told me that her son absolutely loves playing ball, has no particular inclination towards any cartoon characters and loves all colors. Based on that piece of information, I started drawing up a sketch.

From the sketch, I came up with this...

Since Ibrahim LOVES balls, I surrounded the number two cake with miniature balls which I rolled from contrasting colors of fondant. I wanted to run away from the traditional notion of 'blue is for boy and pink is for girl' and went for green instead. I personally think green is a fresh color and it suits well with my theme.

With green as the cake backdrop, I started to work my way around the cake with a garden theme in mind. I used colorful oval dots representing flowers and had two very cute, adorable and colorful caterpillars to finish off the cake. That's it. I strongly believe that less is more, so I didn't want to crowd the cake with too many unnecessary things.

Alhamdulillah, Farah and her husband, Imran, loved the cake. Their son, Ibrahim, had a great time playing with the fondant balls (which were plentiful) and their guests polished up the cake till the very last crumb :)

Thank you very much Farah for giving me the opportunity to expand my creativity and test my decorating skill.

A Ballerina Story...

My good mommy friend, Lara, asked whether I could make a cake with a pair of pink ballerina slippers on a white base for her daughter's birthday cake. I've never done a modeled cake before but if you've been following my progress, I am not one to pass an opportunity when given but instead I'll face it, head on.

After doing countless research on the internet and poring over my cake decorating books, I finally came up with this. My aim was to only use two colors as to make it simple and sweet. You know the saying, less is more.

The hardest part was to model the slippers. I lost count on the number of times that I had to re roll and remodel the slippers but I'm very happy with the final outcome.

I hope the birthday girl, Elmira, liked her birthday cake as much as I loved doing it. Oh, by the way, this cake is a hefty 3 kg Chocolate Moist Cake which could feed a whole class. Talk about sugar high hehehhe...

After A VERY LONG Hiatus...

I apologized for the very, very long break. Apart from the non-stop cake baking, I was pretty much preoccupied with Zareef, who has just entered Year 1. I am now, a bonafide soccer mom.

However, here are some of the cakes that I've made throughout my absence. There were more but due to my forgetful helter skelter brain, some were not snapped. Some were just plain cakes which I deemed not worthy of your view and some were just, simply put, ugly.

Zareef's 6th birthday cake. It was a 2 kg American Chocolate which I brought it to his kinder during break time.

A 2 kg heart-shape butter cake with strawberry filling covered with fondant and maroon sugarpaste flowers.

A 2kg American Chocolate filled with dark chocolate ganache and covered with vanilla buttercream ordered by Matun for her son Aiman. Cartoon characters are from Digimon.

What every little girl dreams of having for their birthday cake but is my nightmare. A 3 kg chocolate moist cake filled with dark chocolate ganache and covered in fondant ordered by Merry for her niece.

A 2kg American Chocolate to congratulate the future groom ordered by his sister, Anom.

A last minute cake that I decorated for my nephew, Iwan. He's into trains and liked my cake that I decorated which resembled the Island of Sodor hence I came up with this.

A 2 kg 8" butter cake with strawberry filling engagement cake for Rafizah. I enjoyed decorating this cake a lot! It was such joy!!

The mother of all cakes! Weighing in at 11 kg, this butter cake with strawberry filling and covered with fondant took me 3 whole days to do it. I didn't sleep for 24 hours on the last day as I was too preoccupied with decorating the cake, following it to a T from the printed version given. It didn't help either that the dark navy blue color was pretty hard to copy. I rolled and rolled with my elbow grease for several hours before I could get the right color. Now I know why professional bakers charge a steep price for fondant cakes. They aren't easy to decorate baby!

Cupcake decorating is simply not my forte. I am truly envious of those who can squirt their way through and make perfect rosettes and roses. My rosettes resemble more of a blob and my roses, oh well, lets just say, needs lots of practicing.

These cupcakes are for a sweet girls birthday ordered by her Aunt Azah. Despite her having her exam right now, I hope she likes them and celebrated her birthday with a bash.

A Princess Castle

Right... I was dead wrong in thinking that the Barbie Doll cake that I did previously was challenging. Please let me correct myself. If Barbie was tough, this Princess Castle was even tougher!

Under all those pastel-colored buttercream lies six, yes SIX chocolate moist cakes that make up the castle and its four towers. I had to insert straws into the cakes in fear of them toppling over. Thank God the castle stayed intact until its cake cutting ceremony. This castle is the champion when it comes to weight. It weighed in at a hefty 4.5 kg.

The towers were topped with ice cream cones which I covered with buttercream and then sprinkled with pink-colored sugar. The front door is made of Meiji Chocolates which I still have in stock from my trip to Tokyo.

How long did it take for me to do this castle from scratch to finish?? TWO whole days!! Yes, that long. I did my research from cake magazines, cake books, googled my way into various cake websites for a week. The price?? Please email or call me for a design consult and I'll quote you a price based on the design, the cake itself and the man hours required to do this cake.

By the way, this cake was for Dania, my good friend, Along's daughter. She had a princess themed party complete with tiaras to match heheh.

Despite the long hours that I put in to finish up this cake, I felt truly gratified for being given the opportunity to stretch my limit and capability and I felt truly satisfied because the castle cake turned out better than I expected and was a hit with the birthday girl.

Hannah Montana

My customers never cease to amaze me with their creativity in coming up with ideas for their children's birthday cake.

I couldn't draw Hannah Montana's face seeing that it was a 3D but I drew the two best things that complement Hannah, her guitar and her microphone.

Realizing a Dream

My toughest challenge to date - this Barbie cake. My regular customer, Farah gave me a Barbie doll and begged me to do a Barbie cake for her. I went berserk at first thinking the amount of work and ingenuity required to do this cake but I dived in head first all the same seeing that I am sucker for challenges. Yeap, throw them at me, straight or curved, I'll do my ultimate best to catch it irregardless how I do it - terbalik ke, tertonggeng ke, I'll give my 150% best effort.

This is one heavy and hefty cake. I had to bake four butter cakes to make it high enough to reach Barbie's waist. Baking the cakes itself required three hours of work. The decoration part? Four hours straight!! I referred to countless of Barbie pictures trying to get one that satisfied my vision of a sweet and simple design.

At last, I came up with this. What you see here is my own design, inspired by countless of Barbie's ball gown. Under the pink fondant is a mountain of a butter cake layered with apple jam and vanilla buttercream.

This is another design that has got a stream of fans. It started with an order from MummyChomel and now it has a cult following. I for one, am not complaining because I love doing swirls. They're so simple but yet look so sweet.

A special request from Syila all the way from Australia as a surprise for her friend's birthday located in Shah Alam.

I have to admit that I am not the best of decorators when it comes to decorating cupcakes more so if it's for a guy. My brain get clogged up after decorating the 2nd cupcake. I just can't imagine those who are in the business of decorating to the hundreds. I really salute you guys! Sakit badan woo, tangan pun cramp, idea pun kena datang like mencurah-curah. I think for now, I'll just specialize in cakes je la, thank you very much.

Thank God for Peggy Porschen's brilliant ideas which really inspired me. I sincerely hope that the decorations went well with the birthday guy.

The special surprise delivery came with 6 big, beautiful and colorful helium balloons. Sighhh... it sure is nice to get this surprise, right?! Unfortunately the intended birthday guy wasn't in his office to receive this surprise (had a meeting elsewhere), so I left it with his colleagues and made the birthday boy promise to come back to his office to get his surprise delivery.

I'm terribly sorry for not updating this baking blog of mine. Too many things happen in such a short time plus I was away in Tokyo for 8 days. But, excuses schemexcuses la kan. Forgive me.

An engagement cake ordered by Raff for her brother. Inside is a butter cake layered with blueberry filling. I was merely following orders on the color - a cream and gold theme. Alhamdulillah, it turned out well.

Double celebration cake custom-made for Yatie's children. Tina loves PowerPuff Girls while Syahmi is nuts about Spiderman but Mama only wants one cake hence the combined cartoon character on one cake. As long as the kids are happy, then I'm happy.

A half and a half - JJay couldn't make up her mind on which topping to choose because she equally loves both. So I suggested her to go for both hence the above.

My first attempt of using an edible icing image with Barbie. Beautiful kan?! Also ordered by JJay for her daughter.

A Green Engagement

A fondant engagement cake for Aida's sister. I was merely following orders for the theme of the engagement which was green.

At first I wanted to do a white base with green flowers but I couldn't find any green sugar flowers being sold at the bakery stores. So, I resorted in doing the reverse - green base with white sugar flowers. At least, the flowers stand out, don't they? I don't do my own sugar flowers due to the fact that I'm still incompetent and still a beginner in modeling sugar flowers. Plus, it's still more cost-effective to buy them rather than do them myself.

I still have a long way to go on decorating with fondant. I seriously need to attend classes. Aida, please accept my apologies for any shortcomings on the cake ya.

Spongebob Squarepants

Huhu... Spongebob. A favorite of many, many kids and adults I know EXCEPT for mine. Yuppp... Zareef detests him. When I asked him why, he replied "I don't like him because I don't watch him on TV". Okayyy?? Valid ke reason tuh?? Confuse kejap.

Anyway, this was for Dina, Along's daughter who turned 3 yesterday. Underneath the sea, lied an American Chocolate Cake covered with dark chocolate ganache.

Despite being ill, Zareef helped me in decorating this cake (under my strict supervision though. Kalau bagi free reign, banyak la benda-benda yang nak di drizzle nya). He put on carefully the sugar flowers and him being the bossy guy, instructed me to "put gray spots instead of black" on Spongebob's face, "add the blue sea" because he lives under the sea, "make the seaweeds longer" so that the fishes can hide in there and so on. Fuhhh... letih Mommy macam ni. It's hard to stay angry when all he wants to do is help me albeit authoratively.

Thomas in 3D

There is always a first for everyone, right?! Well, here's my first attempt of a 3D Thomas. This cake was requested by B's colleague's son who's a big Thomas fan. B's colleague requested for The Island of Sodor. This is the closest that I can come up with given that the surface area of the cake was a wee bit small to accommodate a volcano (yupp... was planning on doing a volcano but had to scrap it due to space constraint).

Underneath all those cream, lies an American Chocolate Cake topped with dark chocolate ganache. I would like to think that Thomas and Clarabel are chugging away around the Island of Sodor, passing pools and meadows filled with blossoming flowers. I used brown sugar to cover the remaining of the cake board to imitate the beach that surrounds the island.

A close-up of Thomas which I borrowed from Zareef's many, many trains. I even doubt he'll miss it given that he's so into all things Transformers right now.

My source of inspiration, also courtesy from Zareef's vast collection of all things Thomas which I religiously collected at car boot sales during our 4 years stint in Loughborough.

Ramadhan and Syawal Cake Orders

Due to overwhelming response from all of my dear customers who have kindly ordered cakes for the month of Ramadhan and Syawal, I would like to say thank you very much from the bottom of my heart.

Orders are still open but you would have to pick them up from my house except for international orders, where I'll deliver the cakes to their respective houses. Last day to order will be on the 7th October 2007. Last day to pick up your cakes will be on the 11th October 2007. Then it'll be close shop for a week.

Business will resume as usual on the 18th October 2007.

It has been a very, very long time since I last updated my cakes. Reason being, the whole family has been attacked by an unknown virus that was too strong for us to resist for the whole two months. We were ill for an average of 3 times each with temperature reaching the highs of 40. B ended our illness saga with being admitted into Sunway Medical for denggi.

Okay, enough about being ill. Lets get to cake business. Please feast your eyes on the cakes that I've done for the past months. There are too many stories to be told so I'll just cut to the chase and let you have a plethora feast of cakes...

Birthday Surprise

Good friends are hard to come by. That is why when Hathyia from BSKL called to order a Special Surprise Delivery for her friend, Arneza, I was totally gamed.

The cake, none other than the American Chocolate Cake frosted with dark chocolate ganache. Sweet and simple decoration does it for this lady.

The cake came with a 'Happy Birthday' helium balloon.

The lucky Arneza all smiles sportingly posing for my camera.

This is a special project done for Mdm Marinadelrey for her daughter, Aqila, who turned 1 on 19th June. I was so shocked to get a phone call from the famous madame herself! To make a long story short, she has been reading my blog since my days in Loughborough and I have been reading hers since then too and now we've crossed paths. Very small world indeed!

She wanted a cartoon character for her daughter's cake but wasn't too sure on which character to choose from. At last she decided on Lion-O, Aqila's favorite stuffed toy so that she'll have something familiar to cut into.

Emails exchanged and this is what I came up with from the picture that she emailed me.

The lucky sweet little girl got a second birthday cake to cut the week after albeit on a very, very short notice.

From Germany With Love

A week before Father's Day, I received a long distance order from a friend of mine who's studying in Germany. Wan wanted to surprise her father, hence opted for the Special Surprise Delivery.

Since fatherly love was in the air, I covered the American Chocolate Cake with dark chocolate hearts drizzled with white chocolate. Beautiful as decoration and delicious to eat as well.

I'm still not good at making flowers from icing so it's better to play safe than sorry. I dotted the cake with dainty flowers made from colored chocolate chips.

The cake came with a helium balloon too. The store where I usually buy my balloons ran out of 'Happy Father's Day' so I substituted with the next best thing, 'We Love You'.

Thank you so much Wan for ordering. It was truly a great show of love stretched across continents. I really hope that your father enjoyed the surprise.

One for the Newlyweds

My ex-colleague and good friend, Puja, ordered this to bring to a wedding in JB. Her instructions were to make it simple and sweet since it was on a short notice's order. Right, simple is my name and sweet is my game. I'm on!

I baked a 2kg American Chocolate Cake layered and iced with with dark chocolate ganache. The cake was dotted with vanilla buttercream and topped with strawberry flavored chocolate chip.

Spiderman

This is my toughest challenge to date. Puan Leha wanted an American Chocolate Cake with a BIG spiderman picture on it. Drawing spidey was easy but doing the webs on his costume, jadik berpinar bijik mata and my right hand almost went cramp. But, I seriously enjoyed doing this cake especially the drawing part.

This 2 kg American Chocolate Cake was layered and iced with dark chocolate ganache. Then, I covered it with vanilla buttercream and drew and colored spidey's picture on it with vanilla buttercream as well. The cobweb on the bottom left-handside corner didn't turn out too well. It's actually a picture of a web with a spider on it. Must remember to draw a bigger one next time.

Flirting with Flowers

A birthday cake for Kak Nor which she kindly ordered to share it with her colleagues. I thought some flowers would suit the occasion. Since I am still sharpening my skills in creating flowers from buttercream icing and didn't want to jinx the cake, I decided to play it safe and just use colored chocolate chips.

Seen here is a 2kg carrot cake frosted with cream cheese topping. I then piped chocolate cornellis on the top as a border and piped green vines using vanilla buttercream. The colored chocolate chips were later added in the shape of small dainty flowers.

Sunshine and Rainbow

I am proud to say, this is an original design specially done for my best bud, Along, for her sweet daughter's birthday. "Alah... kau lukis je gambar rainbow ke hapa ke. Anak aku tak memilih sangat". And so, I did.

Beneath the smiling sun, colorful rainbow and puffy clouds lies a blueberry cheesecake with oreo crust base.

I really had fun decorating this cake. Maybe it was the vibrant colors of the rainbow and the smiling sun that did it to me.

Chocolate Cornelli

My favorite and loyal customer, Dr. Nor or fondly called Kak Nor ordered a small American Chocolate and carrot cake for her children to feast during this two-week long school holiday. Cool mom, eh!

Since this was the 4th chocolate cake in a week, I was totally at lost on what to decorate the cake. A quick look at my cake bible and voila! I came up with lots of squiggly lines also known as cornelli made from chocolate buttercream.

I added a few rosettes at strategic points and dotted them with blue and white chocolate chips.

I was in the mood of 'cornelling' and so moved on to decorate the carrot cake as well. From above, it looks liked a woven mat.

A birthday cake for Aje's sister. I went for a sweet and simple deco as Aje was telling me that her sister is celebrating a double celebration, birthday and new baby on the way. Double joy!!

A small American Chocolate Cake layered and iced with dark chocolate ganache. Then, I dotted the top of the cake with pink chocolate chips in the shape of a heart. I wanted it to look pretty and sweet.

Not wanting to leave the edges bare, I decorated it with dots and stars made from chocolate buttercream.

Thomas The Tank Engine

My ex-colleague, Anom, ordered an American Chocolate Cake with a request for a Thomas picture on it for her son, Adam, a big Thomas fan. This is what I came up...

A small American Chocolate Cake layered and iced with dark chocolate ganache and topped with non-dairy whipping cream. The picture was done with colored buttercream and piping jelly.

Zareef was the critical judge, judging my work. His exact words were "Mummy, kenapa comot sangat Thomas nih?!!" Yes Zareef, it was Mummy's mistake and I'm so regretting it. Then came the heart-breaking judgement, "Tak lawa la Mummy". Aiyoohhh... nak nangis rasanya.

I am so sorry Anom for the smudginess and inaccurateness in Thomas. The black color ran havoc on the white whipping cream. Totally my bad! Now I know better. Anyway, thank you for your kind encouraging words. Hopefully Adam likes the cake (I'm praying real hard here. Susah nak satisfy kehendak budak2 especially if they are big fans of Thomas).

My good friend Azrina from SSP ordered two 2kg American Chocolate Cake and several muffins to go with them for an office do. At the end of it all, she sms'ed me and said that she had OD'ed on my delicious chocolate cake. Good thing? Bad thing? Hopefully all was lip-smacking good.

The first American Chocolate which I layered and iced with dark chocolate ganache then dotted with white chocolate chips.

The second cake was done with my signature deco. No frills here.

Blueberry Birthday

A cheesecake with blueberry topping ordered by Maarof for his nephew's birthday. This is one hefty cake! He also ordered a small carrot cake to go with the cheesecake but I kind of forgot to take a picture of it.

Since the cheesecake was for a birthday, I decorated it with non-dairy whipped cream. It's light and almost sugarless. A perfect topping for a cheesecake as it doesn't interfere with the creamy goodness of the cheesecake.

As I was decorating this, my son went ooohhh and aahhhh. Then he said, "Kalau mummy bubuh the red hearts tu lagi cantik". I decided, why not. It certainly adds color to the cake.

Thank you so much Maarof your kind order. I really hope that your sis-in-law is satisfied with the cakes and your nephew didn't get an overdose of all the cheesy goodness coming from both cakes.

A Special Request

This special request came from Zied, my roomy from PPP. She wanted a small carrot cake for her dad's birthday. However, she asked that the cake be decorated to look like a chocolate cake. The reason; the adults in her family are sick and tired of eating chocolate cakes but the kids totally LOOOOVEEEE it.

It took me several days to come up with ideas on how to disguise a carrot cake to look like a chocolate cake without compromising on the taste. After ruling out two, I came up with this...

The cake had a dual purpose. It's a Birthday cake for her dad and a Mother's Day cake for her mom hence the message "Happy B'day Walid, Happy Mother's Day Ummi"

The carrot cake is frosted with luscious cream cheese, topped with rich dark chocolate ganache and sweet white chocolate hearts and finally, wrapped with shards of dark chocolate.

My first chocolate hearts. It does add a certain amount of sweet-looking appearance to the cake. I like...

I purposely made the chocolate shards to be uneven in shape and sizes just to give it a more abstract feel. They help to disguise the carrot cake to look like a chocolate one plus the kids can just pluck it away and munch on them since they are just plain old dark chocolate.

Masrul called me up and asked me to surprise his wife on her birthday. Yayy! I'm always game for a birthday surprise. Prior to meeting him, I knew him as a friend of Roslee's. But when I met him, surprisingly he turned out to be Mike, a junior from my A-Level days in Sunway. Both B and I ended up chatting with him for a good 20 minutes outside his house while the two kids were safely ensconced in the car dozing away.

I really hope Amanda likes the balloons that I chose for her on behalf of Mike.

My ex-roomie from Sunway College, Zai ordered this 2kg carrot cake especially for her husband's birthday.

Since her husband has sworn off caffeine for health sake, Zai prohibited me from putting any chocolate or coffee into or on the cake. And so, I obliged. Don't worry, the decorations are all cream cheese with brown food coloring.

Zai wanted something simple for her husband and this was what I came up with. I hope it was simple enough to suit her taste. Thank you Zai for the order and I truly hope that your husband liked the surprise and your family enjoyed eating the cake.

Labor Day Cakes

I got very busy during the long weekend. Another one of my loyal customers, Dr. Nor Kamariah or fondly called Kak Nor ordered an American Chocolate Cake and a Carrot Cake. I had time in my hands and I was itching to try the new Wilton tips that I bought from ICCA. I came up with these...

Swirls and twirls on the American Chocolate. Topped with chocolate ganache and dotted with cream cheese. A simple one but I was quite impressed with the outcome (Wilton tips are cool!).

Since I was going for simplicity, I made peaks out of the cream cheese frosting on the carrot cake. Very easy and pleasing to the eye at the same time.

This large carrot cake was for En. Najman of SigTech. He ordered one for a makan-makan do at his place.

Farewell to a Lady

One of my loyal customers, Dr. Khazani, ordered a large carrot cake for a farewell do at his office. He wanted something grand and lovely, and so I came up with this, a classic decoration which to me suits the lady that they are celebrating.

Iced with cream cheese frosting and topped with whole walnuts and chocolate ganache. Tweaked a little bit here and there.

Added silver pearl sugars on the side just to jazz it up and make it look grander.

Winnie the Pooh

This Winnie the Pooh cake was for my neighbor's daughter's 1st birthday. She asked for a chocolate cake. So I opted for an American Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Ganache frosting.

For this cake, I used two 8" cakes (for height purposes) and layered, iced and decorated them with chocolate ganache. I then topped the cake with non-dairy whipping cream and drew Pooh's picture with chocolate buttercream. Later, I filled in the picture with colored piping jelly.

Sounds easy eh?! NOT!!! I started at 10 am and only managed to finish it close to 2 pm. Can you believe that there was a power cut in between! That almost got me into a panic attack! Luckily I've just finished beating my whipped cream and I had baked the cake the night before. Kalau tak... pengsan!!!

I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. Given that this was my first cartoon character cake and it took me long painstaking hours to complete it, I am very happy with my work. Zareef went green with envy when I told him that the cake was for his schoolmate's sister and not his. He went into pouting mode but not for long when I told him that I'll make another cake with his favorite Ben 10 on it.

Now, looking at the pictures, I'm proud of my work. Yes, it was tiring and irritatingly tricky, but, I enjoyed every second of doing it.

To order this cake with any cartoon characters on it, it will be RM 35 per kg (this cake was 2 kg). And please, an early notice would be very much appreciated!

Brownie Birthday

A birthday surprise from my uni mate, Ayu to beloved husband Zaidi. She ordered a large brownies so that her hubby could share it with his officemates. She wanted to surprise her husband really bad, so she went for the Surprise Birthday Delivery complete with helium balloons.
For the cake, I iced and decorated it with chocolate ganache. I wrote the endearing message on the cake with white chocolate. Since it was for a guy, I went for a modern minimalist look.

A delicious cake only requires a simple yet tasty deco. Less is more, as they say. Ayu, hopefully you didn't get a chocolate overdose from eating the cake.

A Special Delivery

Last week, I had a call from Sal, enquiring about a special request. It resulted in one large carrot cake but here's the special request part; to include several helium-filled balloons to go with the cake and delivered to hubby, Roslee at his workplace and... to keep it as a surprise. How about that?!

Okay, considering that I got the order in less than a-24-hours notice, my only worry at that time was where in the world can I get helium-filled balloons and it has to be surprise worthy to boot! A quick search on Google and I found a shop in PJ that stocks up on balloons from all the corners of the earth.

I quickly called B and urged him to get home early that evening to take care of the kids while I went for a balloon hunt. We all ended up going to the shop (sebab Zareef nak ikut tengok balloon shop). It's no joke man hunting for that shop during the peak hours of the evening jam. But, we made it.

The large carrot cake for Roslee.

It was adorned with simple decorations. Suitable for a guy to have it with his officemates.

Zareef simply loved the balloons. He has expressed that he wants 100 hundred of these balloons on his birthday this October.

Sal specifically asked for balloons that would draw attention to her guy since he is really shy and all. I hope that these balloons worked in doing so!

The birthday boy with his surprised cake and balloons but he remained cool and collected. If it were me, I would be jumping about like monyet kena cili.. hehhehe... He was very much surprised, I can say that much but still sporting enough to pose one for the camera.

When he walked in, I could hear the receptionist at the counter saying... "Wah... banyaknya balloons!! Birthday ke??" Yupp... the plan to draw attention to this shy guy worked! Yeay!!

So... happy birthday Roslee! I hope you had a great time with your lovely wife and here's to many more wonderful birthdays in years to come!

Banana and Chocolate Chip Muffin

Okay, this has passed my QC's strict inspection and taste after 4 trials. (I went completely bananas over them after the first try so I had to try and try again). Simply delicious! Very moist and especially yummy when it's hot from the oven. Practically drenched with chocolate chips which I'm particularly fond of and they really go well with the bananas. Seriously.

Good for meetings or morning breaks and tea. In fact, it's good at any time of the day. So, why not give it a try. It's quite large hence, sharing is highly recommended (spread the love people!) unless you're me, who can whallop one at go.

Price: It's RM 2 per muffin. Order 5 and I'll sell it for RM 9. Yes, I do encourage volume. Seriously.

Official Launch

"Ada ke orang nak beli?" That was the first thing I asked a friend when she suggested that I start selling my cakes. Her answer was 1) To roll her eyes till they could roll no more 2) "They'd be insane not to buy!"

Well... Cik Z... I'm heeding your advise and here goes...

Introducing my first bake sale, ever... What started out as a hobby to fill up my past time and Zareef's constant demand for cakes has turned out to be a passion so strong that it caught me by surprise and now to take it to the next level. To make it into a money-churning business.

Yes... I'm ashamed to admit that I need to sell my cakes to sustain my insatiable appetite for shopping plus I need MY OWN money! Penat la nak justify to B why I need this, why I need that. Wives... you know what I mean, right?! Anyway...

The above is a Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese topping. Very rich, moist and I would dare say that one slice is never enough. It comes in two sizes; small weighing in at 900g and large weighing in at 1.6 kg. The price? Small (as above) is RM 35 while a large one is RM 65 (I really do encourage volume purchases not that I mind baking the small ones, I do. It's just that it's more energy-saving).

Next, is my pride and joy. Actually, both are but of late, this has been getting more demands and popular with customers and they've been singing praises for my Chocolate Fudge Brownies. I'm selling a small piece weighing in at 600g for RM 25 while a large piece (as shown above) weighing in at 1.3 kg for RM 45. Again, I encourage volume rather than size. But if you have a small family consisting of just two or three people, it doesn't make sense to order a large one and have it stashed in your refrigerator for days, does it? But in my humble opinion, that will never happen!

I do make Cheesecakes with oreo base topped with either blueberry or strawberry. They only come in one large size and it's priced at RM 75. Sorry, no pictures yet because they get eaten before I could snap a decent picture of it. Next time ya!

The other one would be the Prune Cake. It's the same size as the Brownies and it costs RM 25 for a small one and RM 45 for a large one.

I do make deliveries but as always, there will be a delivery charge. Sorry, I have to because my house is conveniently located between the LDP and KESAS, so I have to pay toll charges everytime I get in or out of the house. I charge RM 10 per delivery for Puchong, Shah Alam, Subang Jaya, Putrajaya, Cyberjaya, PJ, Damansara, Kelana Jaya, Bangsar while it's RM 15 for Klang, downtown KL, Cheras, Ampang and Keramat. Order la banyak mana pun cakes, I still charge RM 10 for the former and RM 15 for the latter per delivery per address. Cukup la nak bayar for my fuel and toll charges.
